Visiting hours are Monday – Friday 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Families may visit at their convenience on Saturdays or Sundays until 8:00 p.m. (Please note that family teaching sessions are not available during visiting hours. They are scheduled during business hours by contacting the case manager.)
Phone Calls and Mail
Patients have phones in their rooms and will be given a phone number at the time of admission. You may receive mail at Southern Kentucky Rehabilitation (SKY) Hospital. Mail should be addressed to Southern Kentucky Rehabilitation Hospital (SKY) including the patient’s name and room number.
Parking and Access
Please enter the hospital through the main entrance in the front of the building. Visitor parking is available at the front and west sides of the hospital allowing close access to the main entrance. Entrances at the rear of the building are for service access.
Smoking
Southern Kentucky Rehabilitation Hospital (SKY) is a smoke-free environment for patients, guests and employees. Smoking is not permitted inside or outside the facility. For the safety of all patients smoking materials or lighters/matches are not permitted during your stay. Smoking materials may not be stored in patient rooms.
Safety
Families and friends are not permitted to help a patient transfer, walk, shower, etc. until they have been trained and approved by the patient’s therapist and physician. Case Management will schedule family teaching days.
Discharge Information
So that we can assure you and each incoming patient immediate access to their room, please plan your schedules to allow for a 10:00 a.m. discharge time on the day you go home. Families, please arrive by 9:00.
WHAT TO BRING
Clothing
You may wear regular, comfortable clothing at Southern Kentucky Rehabilitation Hospital (SKY) . We suggest five (5) changes of casual clothing. The following items will be helpful:
Underwear
Sweater/Jacket
Sturdy Walking Shoes
Pajamas/Robe
Loose-Fitting Slacks
Shirts
Sweatshirts
Toiletry items are welcome, however we ask that you leave aerosol containers at home.
Laundry
Patients and/or their families are responsible for laundry. Laundry facilities are available if needed. Remember to mark each piece with indelible markers or labels.
Personal Appliance
Patients may bring small electrical appliances such as hair dryers, curlers, electric shavers, radios, etc. Before being used in the hospital they must be inspected for safety. Please notify your nurse that you have an electrical appliance with you.
DINING ROOM AND MEALS
Our goal is to serve nutritious, quality meals to each patient. Meals are planned by our dietician in cooperation with the physician. Patients are encouraged to eat in the dining room as part of the comprehensive rehabilitation treatment process. Meals are served at the following times:
Breakfast: 6:30-7:15 a.m. is served in each patient’s room
Lunch: 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. is served in the dining room
Supper: 4:30 p.m.-5:15 p.m. is served in each patient’s room
Menus are posted on the therapy schedule boards and in the dining room. Menus are also distributed each Saturday morning on each breakfast tray. Patients may request an alternate meal selection by calling extension 254. Nine (9) menu selections are now available for some meals. Please call by 9:30 a.m. for lunch and 3:00 p.m. for supper. Sandwiches (turkey, ham and pimento cheese), hamburgers, soups, cottage cheese and fruit plates are available as alternate meal selections.
If you choose to bring items into the facility please see that it is left in a sealed container.
